I survived my first Black Friday in retail!
Thankfully, the boardshop I work at attracts really chill customers and I love all of my coworkers (and their killer taste in music). I’ve been having a difficult time trying to meet people because I’ve been trying to get settled into college, so the fact that all my coworkers befriended me so easily is a huge relief for my extroversion. I really dig the welcoming atmosphere and enjoy my job, so for that I’m thankful.
My other jobs and projects are really going for me right now too! The streetwear apparel brand I'm co-creating is slowly making its way into a realized dream! The video stockroom has me learning and playing with all sorts of broadcasting and cinema tech and it’s esp. helping expand my knowledge about audio production. Plus, my boss puts the best movies on in the background when I’m working on spreadsheets, what more could a freshman film major want?!?
I have so much going on right now, but for the first time I don’t feel overwhelmed with it all. The atmosphere of college really works for me (I struggled a lot during high school, despite loving academia and having amazing teachers) and I really think that moving was one of the best decisions of my life, although I miss my friends and family (and cat, dog, turtle) constantly.
So here’s to all of you — who have supported and continue to support me in all that I do. You make me confident enough to present my ideas and art to the world, and keep me striving to make you proud. I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving, and that you will always have something to be thankful for, just as I am always thankful for all of your love and encouragement.
